- How can I get SPAN Installed in my home?
You have two options for installing SPAN in your home:
SPAN can match you with a SPAN Authorized Installer by submitting our installer match form.
You’re also able to use a trusted electrician/installer you have an established relationship with. They will need to undergo SPAN Authorization and training in order to effectively install and commission your SPAN Panel without voiding the warranty. - Do I need a licensed electrician to install SPAN?
SPAN must be installed by a SPAN-authorized installer and licensed electrician who has successfully completed the SPAN product training. If you are interested in getting connected to an authorized installer, please fill out our installer match / need installer form.

SPAN can help to avoid a service conductor upgrade with an enhancement called PowerUp™, a smart energy management system that keeps incoming power below a home’s service rating.
PowerUp is a smart energy management system developed by SPAN to keep incoming power below a home’s service rating. This enables homeowners to install electric appliances that their home may not normally support by managing power to SPAN circuits
It may be especially helpful for homeowners who are:
- Adding cooling or backup electric heat
- Having home additions or renovations
- Adding an EV charger
- Have an electrical service constraint and upgrade barriers
- Long utility delays
- Buried electrical service
- Gas meter within 3 feet of the main electrical panel
- Looking to avoid service upgrades
Visit this page to learn more about SPAN PowerUp.
- Do SPAN Panels require an internet connection?
An internet connection is required to control SPAN and monitor energy flow and usage data through the SPAN Home App.
SPAN Panel contains an internet-connected gateway that connects via ethernet and Wi-Fi. In the case of an internet outage, SPAN Panel automatically switches to a cellular backup connection when available.
NOTE: Cellular backup should not be relied on as a primary mode of connectivity and may not be available in areas where cellular service is poor.
The SPAN Panel will continue to operate according to its most recent settings even when home internet or cellular service is temporarily lost. The SPAN system will also continue to monitor the utility grid and transition into off-grid mode in the event of a power outage.
